Orange alert due to eruptive changes in Tungurahua
As reported by the National Secretariat for Risk Management, the reactivation of Tungurahua volcano eruption process prompted today the change from yellow to orange alert.
Faced with the sudden increase in eruptive activity, in the past few hours, the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) ordered the change to orange alert.
The civil defense, meanwhile said that this measure was to “safeguard the security of the people” and called the inhabitants of the catchment areas of the volcano to “implement recommendations” in order to avoid risks.
