Fatima Ptacek Espinoza, Ecuadorian descent actress shines at the Oscars
There is a new star in Hollywood that is increasingly shining, despite her young age. However, one of her greatest desires is to visit Ecuador and see her grandmother for cooking, eating and watch some movies together.
We are talking about 12 year old actress Maria Fatima Ptacek Espinoza; daughter of Lucia Espinoza,36, from Azogues and American Jack Patcek, a Norwegian descent.
This promise of American cinema is the leading actress of the short film Curfew, directed by Shawn Christensen, who won the Oscar for this category, last Sunday in the 85th edition of the Academy Awards.
Life as an Artist:
Fatima began her career at an early age. Her beginnings were as a model at the age of seven, after her mother enrolled her in a private academy. Immediately, the owners of the agencies observed her qualities and began to hire her. Since then she has advertised for magazines and brands like Benneton, Chic Monalisa, Newsweek, Kids, among others.
Furthermore, Fatima has participated in 70 TV commercials and is currently the voice of the popular character Dora the Explorer, broadcast by Nickelodeon.
Her film career began when she was elected with Catherine Zeta Jones for the comedy ‘The Reboud’. She has also been part of the film ‘The Miracle of Spanish Harlem,” opposite Kate del Castillo and Luis Antonio Ramos; also ‘Anything is possible’ and ‘A Little Game’, where she plays as a bad girl.
Despite her age, Fatima stands out not only because of her talent in modeling and acting, but also for her love on gymnastics, equestrian and her passion for reading. She is an outstanding student and is currently studying Mandarin at a special center for children with a gifted intellect.
Through her Facebook page, Ptacek posted some pictures on the red carpet and holding her first Oscar in her hands. She wrote: “OMG! What an awesome night! Oscar is heavy (LOL). So grateful to Shawn Christensen for having faith in me to carry out his vision of Sophia in Curfew.”
Her family in Ecuador:
Alejandrina Espinoza, Fatima’s maternal grandmother says proudly that her granddaughter wrote in Spanish a card saying, “Mommy, I want to hold and feel you, I hope this year I am going to Ecuador to cook and eat some cuy”.
Espinoza, 65, smiles knowing that her prayers to the Virgin of the Cloud were heard. She asks for the success and health of her granddaughter. Visibly moved she says that yesterday morning (03:00) her granddaughter called her and said: “Mommy I’m happy I won and I share this victory with you.”
Now Alejandrina is waiting anxiously the arrival of Fatima this year to Ecuador and fulfill her desires to cook and watch the films in which she acts, together.
