Next week, the National Intelligence Secretariat (Senain) will appear before the International Relations Commission of the Assembly in response to complaints of its alleged association with the Italian firm Hacking Team.
The coordinator of Alianza País, Fausto Cayambe, made the announcement and did not name anyone specifically, but spoke about a “representative.”
“The opposition hopefully demonstrates evidence of its thesis that we are spying. For our part we will guarantee the right to privacy of Ecuadorians,” said Cayambe.
Meanwhile, Lourdes Tibán, of the Pachakutik party, reiterated yesterday that she has documents that prove the existence of state contracts with Hacking Team.
She explained that among the documents she has there is a letter from the Senain of February 27, 2013. The Secretary of Intelligence of that time, Pablo Romero Quezada, would have authorized the company Illuminati Laba to officiate as the representative and interlocutor for demonstration, evaluation and contracting of the services Hacking Team provides.
