It is estimated that if El Niño phenomenon occurs some fish species will migrate to colder waters and species that don´t will lose weight by the lack of nutrients. “Then, tilapia will be a good choice,” said José Antonio Camposano, president of the National Aquaculture Chamber.
Camposano also noted that strengthening the sales in the domestic market is a good alternative for the entire sector because exports fell from $ 80 million in 2007 to $ 15 million last year.
