In an interview for Ecuavisa´s newscast, the first vice president of the National Assembly, Rosana Alvarado, made fun of the perennial presidential candidate Alvaro Noboa, with regard to the constitutional amendments, including the transitional provision, which will enable the banana magnate to take part in future elections.
For Alvarado, the amendments and the transitional provision mean the expansion of political rights of Ecuadorians, which are consistent with the provisions of the ruling of the Constitutional Court. Alvarado said that they have any wild card that may surprise the public.
“In the event that the amendments are enacted, that approval does not convert me into a eternal legislator, what I have is the possibility to run again as a candidate, like someone who certainly deserves an award for his perseverance: Alvaro Noboa, all the time, in every election, he appears in every election season, we already know the results but he has the legitimate right to postulate, that has not made him president, even thanks to his perseverance.”
