Two shrimp farms located near the Protected Pacoche Forest and that would allegedly causing serious damage to the area, were intervened yesterday afternoon due to the construction of a retaining wall that prevents river channels from reaching the protected forest.
The owners of the shrimp farms indicated their documentation is in order. The discovery was made during the investigations conducted on the death of 51 monkeys so far.
Edgar Penafiel, provincial director of the Ministry of Environment, said that after a thorough investigation, in which drones were used to take pictures and videos, they looked for the legal statuses for the intervention. In this case the National Water Secretariat (Senagua) intervened.
