Ecuador does not seek an IMF credit, clarifies Minister

Ecuador has no intentions of any agreement on macroeconomic matters with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or other multilateral organizations, confirmed Economy and Finance Minister Carlos de la Torre. Thus, the official clarified the statements made by Foreign Trade Minister Pablo Campana to Reuters: “it will be essential that Ecuador approaches the IMF,” to obtaining resources to solve a fiscal gap of $ 3.5 billion.
Campana also mentioned that there would be an intention to enter into talks with Chevron. De la Torre denied that the State is thinking of acquiring a loan with the Monetary Fund. (I)
