After Christobal Ramos, of 25 years old, throw himself from a bus into the Babahoyo river, yesterday,  his brother Luis Ramos waited in the main door of the hospital Luis Vernaza, for news about the health conditions of Cristobal.

Luis narrated that after crossing the first Unidad Nacional bridge, Christobal stood up, ran to the door of the bus and throw himself, falling on the floor. After falling he incorporated himself and climbed the rails and jump into the Babahoyo river where as estimated Luis, fell about 20 meters.

An hour after the incident, experts put together an operation and rescued him at the height of the Caraguay, from where he was embarked on an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

Relatives and close friends traveled from Ventanas (province of Los Ríos) to Guayaquil to take him to the Neuroscience Institute, so that he can be treated for a depression that he was suffering from more than eight months, when he learned that he had a bacteria in the stomach, for which he is receiving  treatment.

However, last week he learned that his girlfriend, allegedly had a contagious disease. “He Filled with fear, took tests that came out negative, but began to get upset about it.”

According to the study published this year by Coface, an international network that provides credit insurance services, Ecuador has C rating, which means that the country’s economic environment is very insecure and of high risk.

Patrick Dykmans, senior consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Business Advisors, says that the perception of insecurity directly affects loans and investments that could reach a country. “The rating reduces the universe of funders. And those who are willing to invest are based on the qualification in order to apply for a higher rate of their credit” says Dykmans.

The alternative posed by the industrial sector in order to overcome the low rating is that government policies must be aimed at establishing trade agreements “clear and convincing” with tariff facilities, long-term, allowing the buying and selling of products and services with strategic countries.

According the evaluation, made by Coface, Ecuador shares the category C with other South American countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay, while the states of the region best placed are: Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay.

La Catedral church

A family was expecting, surprised, the arrival of members of the police to the San Antonio de Padua Church, known as San Gregorio, located in the Citadel Urdesa, in the North of Guayaquil, because the thieves removed the brain of their car,  a Chevrolet Spark that was in the inner parking place.

407 university teachers could resign their office

The new statutory provision for teachers who turn 70 years of age states that they must retire and leave their posts, affecting 407 teachers at the University of Guayaquil.

The 407 constitute 15% of all the main and auxiliary professors, whose age fluctuate between 70 years and more. This rule concerns teachers approaching that age, because 20% of the teachers are between 64 and 69 years old.

Following this event, the Association of Professors of the University of Guayaquil (APUG), coincides with two points: they say that the provision is unconstitutional and, if implemented, would affect the academic work of the institution.

Sergio Marzo, director of APUG, cited legal arguments on which the teachers are basing their claims: Articles 11 and 37 of the Constitution. The first provides for equal rights for all people and that no one may be discriminated against on any grounds, including age. The second guarantees the right of the elderly to be paid for work, depending on their capabilities.

At the discretion of APUG, that provision of mandatory retirement contradicts the articles of the Constitution for being a law (the Public Service or LOSEP), which is hierarchically inferior to the Constitution of the State. Other teachers consider that if the new rule is approved it would affect the quality of teaching.

Besides all this, they claim that the application of this rule, “will affect the University’s academic situation” because of the many affected. The decision on whether to abide by the provision or not has not been made, they insist that it is unconstitutional.

According to the daily Bloomberg, billionaire Bill Gates once again leads the list of the richest people in the world, after being overtaken by Mexican Carlos Slim in 2007.

The fortune of Gates, founder of Microsoft, is estimated at $ 72,700 million and increased 16% in the last year due to the pick ups on the financial market  in recent months.

This week the U.S. Judicial Commission aims to approve the historical project of the immigration bill to strengthen border while at the same time offering a path to citizenship for millions of people, but the panel must first resolve remaining disputes.

Yesterday, around 11 o’clock in the morning, Pegasus sent images of the Peruvian coast, that were received at the control station of EXA, located in Guayaquil, and retransmitted on the internet.
