The total breakdown in the Moreno-Glas relationship

Ecuadornews:
Tensions peaked. The relationship between President Lenin Moreno and Vice President Jorge Glas was injured yesterday after the latter issued a statement in which he accused the president of generating the conditions for “institutionalized corruption.”
The letter appeared minutes after Moreno said during a meeting with the Consortium of Decentralized Governments of Ecuador (Congope) that he will not give his opinion either for or against a high official of his cabinet who is being subjected to severe accusations from various sectors of the opposition.
Nevertheless, he warned he has his personal opinion on the matter, but he would not pronounce as it could influence the justice players, whom he called to act independently. “Have I been asked why I do not defend or attack him? I’m not going to pronounce; I’m just going to make decisions,” he said.
The majority agrees: President Lenin Moreno must ask for the resignation of Vice President Jorge Glas. It is the unison reaction of opposition parties in the Legislature to the audios that suggest that Glas would be linked to alleged acts of corruption with Odebrecht. (I)
