Through technological tools it is sought to generate more tourism in Quito
Ecuadornews:
With a renewed web page a modern mobile application and a fresh city brand, the Mayor’s Office of Quito seeks a greater boost in the tourism sector and turn the capital into a ‘smart city’; that is, an intelligent city that accompanies the tourist before, during and after his visit.
The Palacio de Cristal, in the Itchimbía park, was the stage where the presentation of these three tools designed by the Secretariat of Productive Development and Competitiveness and the Metropolitan Public Company Quito Turismo was held on Wednesday, February 21st.
During the event, attendees were able to see the new website 3.0, where information about the tourist attractions and the essential routes of the city is detailed. Through this address, tourists, both national and foreign, may know the churches, museums, parks, areas of interest, routes, places for shopping tourism, hiking, culture and cuisine that Quito offers.
In addition, a mobile application called GoUIO was developed, which can be used even without a data plan, to become a technological guide during the visit. With this application, the user can create and share their travel itinerary, access tourist attractions and the city’s agenda. Visitors can also access interactive information through ‘beacons’ that will be placed throughout the city, but in a first phase will start in the Historic Center and Mariscal Sucre Airport. According to the municipal authorities, this new technological platform seeks to revolutionize tourism in the city. (I)
