Child labor still exists in Ecuador

“Plan Internacional” published in Quito, this past March 9th, the results of its study entitled ‘The reality of domestic labor and adolescents in Ecuador’.
The document records that children and adolescents spend 18.72 hours a week to housework. The gap increases with the age of the adolescents and reaches 31.77 hours per week.
Gloria Ardaya, consultant of “Plan Internacional”, stated that the data shows that in our country, child domestic labor is not seen as a form of work, but as home help.
According to the study, 100% of surveyed families do not recognize domestic work as a form of work.
