Posted On 02 Apr 2012
Passenger aircraft ATR-72 crashed this morning in the north of Siberia, leaving a balance of 31 dead and 12 seriously injured.
As reported by the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations, the accident occurred at 3:50 am, shortly after taking off from Tyumen.
“The plane managed to rise a few hundred meters. Then communication was lost. Apparently, the unit had problems off and the crew attempted to perform an emergency landing,” said a police source.
After crashing, the aircraft burst into flames. Among the dead were all members of the crew, while the wounded were evacuated by helicopter.
