15 additional days to respond to the CAN about resolution 116
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Juan Francisco Ballen, reported yesterday that Ecuador requested additional 15 days from the deadline to respond to a letter from the General Secretariat of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), regarding the investigation that the agency initiated by the issuing in November 2013, of resolution 116 of the Foreign Trade Committee.
The response date for that document expired on May 9, so Ballén specified that the new deadline corresponds to working days and started running since that date.
“We have asked the extension of time, the idea is that we will respond,” said the official, who also stated that details of the resolution 116 Will be explained to the CAN.
The international organization seeks to determine whether the provision and its amendments constitute a “restraint of trade” within the terms of Andean rules.
