18.870 teachers are eligible to enter to the Magisterium

The Ministry of Education convened a contest of merits which will be open until April 15 in order to fill the gaps that exist in schools of approximately 11,000 teachers who retired in 2013 and 14,000 that will make it this year, as Augusto Espinosa, reported it, holder of this portfolio of State.

At the moment there are more than 20,000 vacancies that need to be covered; but there are 18.870 eligible qualified teachers, who were chosen last year and are the more trained to enter to the Magisterium.

Teachers who pass the contest of merits and opposition will be placed in any educational institution where there are vacancies. The subjects that they will teach are natural sciences, mathematics, physical education, language, literature, among others. The objective is to cover the deficit of educators in schools.

Through the information system (SIME), which was implemented by the Ministry of education, teachers can register to update their data.
