The President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, declared the 2020-2021 school year open for the Sierra and Amazon region. In a video, the President welcomed the students.

“Dear students of the Sierra and Amazon regime, welcome to this school year 2020 – 2021. This beginning of classes is very special, due to the care that we still have to take in the face of the pandemic. We have taken all the necessary measures to do so in the best possible conditions. The educational authorities are going to provide them with all the facilities so that they do not miss classes, because NASA is more important to us than their education ”.

Likewise, the Head of State stated that “I know that they miss their classmates, they miss recess, sports, that they would undoubtedly want to hug their friends and run and play in the schoolyards, that day will soon come. For now to keep our distance, to take care of our health and also the health of our families. At this moment the main thing is that they are responsible with their studies at home ”.

While the Minister of Education, Monserrat Creamer, stated that “we started the school year # SierraAmazonía 2020-2021, with 1’822,615 students who with determination continue forward and 99,982 teachers who with all their dedication and dedication have said # SíALaEducación and are supporting to all families ”.

The head of Education gave a message to the students. “Boys, girls and young people, you are being protagonists and heroes who are marking a historical milestone of how education is transforming forward, with courage and with new ways of learning.”

Jhon Ninasunta, a student at the Capitán Giovanni Calles Educational Unit, located in the province of Orellana, stressed that “it is a complex period due to health and economic circumstances, but those barriers and obstacles inject us with a great deal of decision and strengthen our spirit of overcoming”.

The student was in charge of sending a message to his classmates in a virtuous way. “The human being in the most difficult moments is where he shows his real courage, I invite everyone to trust young people. Investment in education will be the seed that will bring comforting fruits to Ecuador ”.

He added that “today is a day of great importance for the children and youth of Ecuador, overcoming many adversities we are willing to start a new school year and strengthen our spirit of improvement.”

While the Vice Minister of Education, Andrés Chiriboga, pointed out that “this is the generation that with synergy conquered the learning processes for life and not only acquired academic content, you are the generation that defeated COVID-19 from Education” .

In addition, Chiriboga added that “starting a school year implies reuniting with our classmates, friends and teachers, learning new things; however this #InicioDeClases is different, the educational community becomes a special generation ”.

A total of 6,473 institutions must continue with the first phase of the covid-19 educational plan, called “Let’s Learn Together at Home.” One thousand community radios, 160 television channels, an educational portal and pedagogical files in Spanish, Kichwa and 120 ancestral languages, will be the channels for children and adolescents to continue their training. (I)
