Unasur meets today in Galapagos by Venezuelan Crisis subject

The foreign ministers of the twelve countries that integrate the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR for its spanish acronym) will meet today in the Galapagos islands, Ecuador to know the situation of Venezuela and other issues, as reported yesterday by the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño.

The diplomat indicated that the meeting shall last two days and will become acquainted of the action taken by the foreign ministers committee of UNASUR, which is accompanying the peace talks in Venezuela.

Patiño remarked that “peace talks have progressed slowly, but have progressed” and that the levels of communication and the willingness of the parties to affirm the process remains.

The Galápagos meeting will also serve to know the progress that the Union has given on reforms to the inter-American System of Human Rights and to prepare the presidential summit to be held in Uruguay, country that will receive the pro tempore presidency present in Suriname, reported Patiño.
