173 corpses from MH17 flight have been identified by experts
Experts have unequivocally identified 173 victims of Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight after collecting DNA samples from 283 people in the scene.
Wim Heijnen, from the Netherlands Forensic Institute, said on Wednesday to the press in The Hague that all the DNA samples do not match to the identification of victims and that some may belong to workers who collected the bodies when the plane was shot down over eastern Ukraine, where 298 passengers on board died.
“I think the fact that we have collected frames of DNA in such a short time of three quarters of the remains is positive. But of course I’m not satisfied. We wish more frames of DNA and we will strive to achieve them.” Heijnen said.
Scores of forensic experts have worked for weeks to identify the bodies and the incomplete human remains collected at the scene and taken to Holland.
