Typhoon Hagupit leaves three people dead and 890,000 evacuated in Philippines

At least three people died in the Philippines and more than 890,000 were evacuated by the typhoon Hagupit which crosses Philippines with sustained winds of 170 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 170.

The typhoon has also caused flooding and extensive damage to infrastructure, as reported by local media.

According to the local ANC television, two of the victims died of hypothermia in the province of Iloilo, Midwest, while a woman of 35 years in gestation died from complications in pregnancy.

The typhoon, named Ruby by the Philippine authorities, moves in northnorthwest direction at 10 kilometers per hour, so it will not leave the country by the South China Sea until Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the Meteorological Agency Philippines (PAGASA ).

Although the intensity of the storm has been reduced, and the winds have decreased from 185 to 140 kilometers per hour in the last 24 hours, the National Council of Management and Disaster Risk Reduction warned that Ruby is still dangerous and citizens must keep precautions.
