A Suspended Court Condemned Coronel Tapia
Coronel Rolando Tapia received a sentence of three years in a correctional facility for attempting against the Estate security. Mario Flores and Ower Simancas were condemned to 18 months, Marco Tiban, Francisco Noboa and Carlos Tasinchana received one year.
The judges of Second Penal Courthouse of Pichincha despite being suspended by the Judicial Council last Wednesday afternoon imposed the sentence. The notification arrived to the judicial lockers at 15:00
According to the lawyer of Tapia, Victor Hugo Cevallos, “the could never pass the sentence since they knew they were suspended by the Judicial System.”
The path that the defense of Tapia will follow as well as the other five defendants is to sue the failing of the sentence and appeal against it. The accused lawyers have three days to achieve this. (AV)
