A virtual summit will analyze how to reactivate cocoa countries

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture , the first edition of this meeting was held in May 2019. Its second edition was scheduled for 2020; however, due to the world health emergency, the face-to-face appointment was postponed.

In virtual meetings the main point of debate will be how to combat the crisis in the cocoa sector caused by the presence of COVID-19 in the producing countries of Latin America.

In 2019, some 500,000 hectares of cacao were planted in Ecuador, with a production of more than 313,000 tons (t), according to the ministry. Almost 300,000 tons were exported, generating about $ 760 million . (I)
