It is increasingly common to see national television personalities, become candidates for National Assembly:
- Actress Claudia Camposano, better known as “Rosita, the taxi driver,” filmed yesterday her latest show to engage in pre-campaign as Assembly member for District 3 of Guayas by the Partido Roldosista Ecuatoriano (PRE).
- Actor Mario Cabezas also jumps into politics and hopes to be elected provincial legislator seeks in District 1 (South parishes: Ximena and Febres Cordero) by the Partido Sociedad Patriotica (PSP).
- Actress Maria Mercedes Pacheco, Cabezas’ companion on PSP assembly lists, leads the 3rd district of Guayas.
Pacheco made clear her anger at the people who devalue involvement of actors and actresses in elections, “You do not need a degree to be Assemblywoman, just being eager to serve,” she added.
The Partido Social Cristiano (PSC) also seeks affiliations of known characters such as singer Johanna Carreño, who could represent the list for the Northern District of Manabi.
The Avanza movement announced the candidacy of singer Jaime Enrique Aymara to lead the list in the south of Quito. (MZ)
