The global education organization Participate Learning reopened its recruitment process for all those Ecuadorian teachers who want to work in schools in the United States, for a period of three to five years, starting next school year that will begin at the end of August from 2021.

Abigail Briones and her husband Carlos Baquerizo, originally from Guayaquil, are two of the 90 teachers who are part of the program. Like them, 130 teachers from the country have participated in this cultural exchange program.

“We studied for a long time to become English teachers and with this opportunity we have been able to practice the language, be immersed in American culture and learn many things. We have also brought many things from our country to share with our students ”, says Briones.

He specifies that on a professional level they will return to Ecuador very enriched, “in the sense that the work experience here (United States) will give us a bonus when we return to our country; we are going to be English-speaking teachers with an internship in a foreign country ”.

“ Participate has given my wife and me the opportunity to apply for a master’s degree, that is, apart from the experience we have as teachers, we return to our country thanks to this program, with a new title, a level higher than the one we came here for, ”says Baquerizo.

His wife notes that in addition to the experience gained with the children, “the American educational system is also training us, they have given us some training. We have learned new strategies; they have a different way of teaching and we are learning all that. Participate also constantly trains us, helps us through all the processes, so we are well prepared on both sides ”.

More chances

Ronald Ramírez, recruiting coordinator for Latin America, indicates that “our cultural exchange program continues and today we have 90 active teachers. I want to invite all teachers who this year have not been able to fulfill their dream of being international teachers, to sign up for next year and not abandon their professional and personal goals ”.

This call not only promotes the employment of Ecuadorian teachers and their international experience, but also that the country has more trained personnel to increase the growth of bilingual education.

“Although this year they have faced challenges due to the pandemic, the organization has been in charge of accompanying them during all those months for the use of technology, teaching tools on lines and we have ensured their health and safety at all times,” adds Ramírez .

Second language

Participate Learning offers the opportunity to improve the quality of the second language in teachers through a family and work experience in another country, allowing that upon their return to Ecuador, job opportunities are broader.
