Ecuadornews:
The ship built in China two years ago and owned by the French group CMA-CGM is almost 300 meters long. Its return is expected for October.
These days, the Rodolphe sails Asian seas carrying hundreds of tons of Ecuadorian cargo to be delivered in China and South Korea. The ship departed on August 13th from the port city of Busan, bound for Shanghai, one of the most populated cities in China, which has more than 20 million inhabitants. Almost a month ago, this iron giant, whose construction cost was $ 85 million, reached the docks of the Port Terminal of Guayaquil (TPG).
The ship can mobilize 11,000 teu (20-foot containers), making it the largest of its kind operating in the country. Xavier Moreira Calderón has been the general manager of the CMA-CGM subsidiary, the French company that owns the vessel, for five years. The company ranks among the top 5 foreign trade operations company in Ecuador.
The executive, with 24 years of experience in shipping operations, said that the arrival of the colossal ship of 299 meters in length (long) and 48.2 meters in width (sleeve) caused several impacts in the country. First: it shows the confidence of foreign entrepreneurs in the country. Likewise, it makes possible the transfer of Ecuadorian products to new and distant destinations. (I)
