An Amazonian brand seeks to reactivate tourism
More promotion to move the tourist sector of the Ecuadorian East. The Consortium of Amazonian and Galapagos Municipalities (Comaga) presented a plan to reactivate the sector. The proposal is called the Tourism Project to generate a Regional Governance Model.
One of the central ideas of the initiative is to create an Amazon tourism brand and technical assistance for tourism promotion at the national and international level.
With data from the Internal Revenue Services (SRI), the Consortium of Amazonian and Galapagos Municipalities (Comaga) indicates that the set of activities in the tourism sector experienced a reduction of 52.4%, which in dollars is 2,141 million in losses. The most affected were tourism agencies and operators.
In addition, Comaga reported that they managed to get Unesco to advise them to create a ‘toolbox’ and advice to each of the municipalities belonging to the Amazon, Baños and Penipe.
In the framework of international cooperation with UNESCO, Comaga pointed out that it was possible to obtain high-quality audiovisual material for a national and international campaign in the Amazon.
