An Ecuadorian is a Pokémon World Champion
Ecuadornews:

Paul Ruiz traveled to Nashville (United States) to achieve the feat that no Latin American, in the history of video games, has achieved so far: being the winner of the 2018 Pokémon World Championship!
The division in which Ruiz participated was master. His final moves were transmitted by Facebook Live and even Pokémon Center shared with his followers, the game that the Ecuadorian had against Emilio Forbes of the United States and that led him to his championship.

From his Twitter account Paul, with his user @ Ralfdude90, wrote what this experience was and why, despite having been considered in the top 8 among the best players, he wanted to achieve even more.
“That was my dream then, but I want to be the Champion someday. That’s why I’ll keep trying, “Ruiz explained about the times his wife asked him why he should continue in these competitions.
His goal was obtained on August 26 and the same day he reported from the airport, thanking everyone who had supported him in this journey. The team of Pokémon that prepared for this date were Mega Salamence, Snorlax, Incineroar, Gastrodon, Kartana and Tapu Koko.
The next appointment for this tournament will be in Washington DC. Those interested can now prepare for 2019. (I)
