Andrés Paéz denounces alleged impunity in process of the Cofiec case
Opposition Assemblyman Andrés Páez (CREO) said on March 17 that the judgment of bank embezzlement in the Cofiec case enshrines the impunity of some “jointly responsibles” of the credit granting to Gaston Duzac.
Páez made this assertion after reading out what would correspond to page 5176 of the judicial process in which Pedro Delgado, former president of the Central Bank of Ecuador, would have said he never denied he asked Antonio Buñay, former Cofiec executive, to meet with Duzac, Pedro Elosegui and other Argentine businessmen.
The chairman of the Audit Commission, Gabriel Rivera (AP), indicated that Páez has very little credibility.
“Congratulations to those who have resolved this issue, I think there has been the dedication of judicial officers to find the truth, to bring to justice those who have committed these irregularities,” he said.
