Assembly Commission and Ministry of Health discuss regulator entity for health sector
Posted On 13 Jun 2014
The Health Commission of the National Assembly and the Ministry of Health have begun to discuss the possible establishment of a Regulation and Control Agency for the health sector.
The approach of its president, Carlos Velasco (AP) is the creation of a Health Authority that would be independent of the Executive.
“These are issues of responsibilities definition that have both the Agency and the Superintendency. We are open to that dialogue”, Carrion said.
This entity would not only control the public sector, but also the private.
The regulation of prepaid medicine is currently among the Superintendencies of Banks and Companies and the National Health Authority.
