Attack on political meeting in Syria leaves 21 dead
After a mortar attack at an election rally in southern Syria, 21 people died at least, among them, 11 civilians, including a child, reported this Friday state media and opposition groups.
The attack occurred when supporters of President Bashar Al-Assad, who seeks his reelection, conducted an election rally in the city of Deraa, in southern Syria, where opposition began the uprising against the regime in 2011.
The mortar attack killed an unspecified number of people, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights anticipated that the bombing killed 21 and left over 30 injured, reported the official news agency SANA.
The observatory, located in London, said that the attack occurred on Thursday night in the al-Matar district, in Deraa, and until this Friday, it has managed to integrate the information with help from their sources in the scene of the incident.
