The Indigenous leader and former mayor of Cotacachi, Auki Tituana declined his candidacy for the vice presidency of Ecuador as binomial of Guillermo Lasso for the political party CREO. Lasso stated that, although, Tituaña is not his candidate for the vice presidency, he will remain as his friend and role model.
“I am and still will be a servant of the country“, said Tituaña when he turned down his candidacy. During the press conference he added that due to “petty political interests of the indigenous leadership are the reason for not support his candidacy.”
Lasso, who was present in the press conference, will organize, this week, an assembly of the CREO to appoint his new vice president for the upcoming elections.
