National banana producers
National banana producers feel concerned that the free fumigation process that was offered to some farms will never arrive, even though Javier Ponce, Agriculture Minister announced it started on 20 and 30 August.
One days before the emergency time ends, hundreds of Guayas and El Oro Farmers expressed to be concerned that the black sigatoka continues to expand in their plantations and believe that the remainder of the emergency will not be enough to combat the spread of the plague.
While in regions such as Milagros and Simon Bolivar, many banana producers have lost large areas of crops and have reduced production capacity.
