Banana sales rose in the first half of 2016

165 million boxes were sent abroad in the first half of the year. This means a 0.5% increase compared with the same period of 2015, according to Eduardo Ledesma, president of the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEBE for its Spanish acronym).

According to the AEBE, so far this year, exports of 18.14 kilos boxes total 165’069.355, while in 2015 these were 163’927.963.

The main buyers are the European Union, the United States and Russia.
