Banks in Ecuador Deliver Letters about Law
Due to the intense debate by the law of Social Expense Redistribution in the National Assembly, has caused a series of doubts between the customers of the financial sector. For this reason each bank decided to send letters to their customers to explain the posture of the project that tries to take the resources of the private bank to increase the Human Development Bonus.
According to Cesar Robalino, executive director of Private Bank Association, the purpose of the document is to calm the citizenship that does not have access to the information given by the media. “We can not answer to every customer and for that a massive diffusion,” said Robalino.
However, the letter was perceived as a way to create panic, according to the Twitter account of the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Policy. Yesterday the account retweeted messages that qualified that as a way to destabilize it.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Banks, Pedro Solines, talked against the measure taken by the banks. Solines made call not to continue delivering the letter and warned that the insistence could result, even in a criminal action, because it seeks instability and distrust in the banking system and there is no reason for it.
