Bishops must prepare for the Extraordinary Synod at the Vatican
Bishops from around the world received a questionnaire of 38 questions sent by The Vatican to prepare for the Extraordinary Synod on the Family, convened by Pope Francis in October of 2014.
The questions are part of the preparatory document for the synod of bishops, one of the most open and democratic assemblies of the Catholic Church, which will focus in ‘the pastoral challenges of the family in the context of evangelization.’
With the answers of the questionnaire, sent to the Episcopal Conferences around the world last October, a document will be prepared that will serve as the introduction to the discussion of the bishops, who speak different languages and have different problems.
This time the questionnaire contains questions that address taboo subjects, such as the adoption of children by same-sex couples, the diffusion of “registered partnerships” or the attitude of the Church towards mixed marriages or interfaith ones, single parenthood and also the phenomenon of “surrogacy.”
