Xavier Bonilla, known as Bonil, won the first honorable mention in Humor Free category in the World Press Cartoon 2012.
The Ecuadorian cartoonist who collaborates on the editorial pages of El Universo journal, won the award with the work called Virtual Reader, published in January 2011 in Rocinante magazine from Quito.
Bonil said that the cartoon intended to evoke the world of technological communication, internet, social networks as well as common things like reading the newspaper. This is the second international award for Bonil, who last year in October received an award from the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) in the Cartoon category. (PLS)
