Camilo Saman is investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office
For the time he was appointed as Governor of Guayas, in 2007, he kept debts with Filanbanco, bank in liquidation, and the Central Bank of Ecuador, and was in arrears with his credit card, that’s why the Bolivariano Bank decided to close his account. Because everything contravened express dispositions of the Civil Service and Administrative Career, the Attorney General’s Office initiated a preliminary investigation against the president of the National Finance Corporation, Camilo Saman.
The complaint about the alleged illegalities was filed by the legislator Enrique Herreria, now independent, so he must go to the Prosecutor’s Office on January 7th to defend his indictment, filed in June, following two publications by the El Universo newspaper.
According to Herreria´s accusation, Camilo Saman paid unexpectedly his credit card debt in 2011, arguing “an unjustified increase of his wealth”. Even earlier in June, the General Comptroller initiated a review on the declaration of assets of governor at that time, and now president of the Finance Corporation, the results remain unknown.
