Capriles: “I’m not the opposition, I am the solution”

Posted On 08 Apr 2013

Yesterday, the candidate for the presidency of Venezuela, Henrique Capriles, in a historic opposition rally named “Heroic Caracas” organized on the Bolivar Avenue, which is a historic “chavista” bastion in the center of the capital, united hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, obtaining the highest opposition crowd since 1999.

Before the phrase “I’m not the opposition, I am the solution“, from six different points of the capital, large groups of citizens marched to support the 40 year-old candidate who seeks to capture the vote of the undecided electorate.

Nicolas Maduro (left) will have to face the rising candidate, Henrique Capriles.

One of the main arguments used by Capriles was that his political rival and acting president, Nicolas Maduro, has left the Venezuelan people in the hands of Cuba and the communist government of the Castro brothers, for which not only he offered the Venezuelan nationality to Cubans wishing to stay and work in the country, but also warned of a possible expulsion of Cuban advisers operating in the barracks of the Venezuelan Armed Forces, if he should succeed this April 14.

“Nicolas, you’re going to win the elections in Havana, but I’ll do it here in Venezuela on April 14,” Capriles shouted.

Finally, the opposition candidate also invited Chavez’ supporters to discuss the contrast between their economic conditions and the lifestyle adopted by government officials and then take a decision on their vote.
