He was director of the Institute for Economic Research of the PUCE, as well as a guest lecturer at the Grenoble-Alpes University (France). He has been an adviser to international organizations.
What will be the foundations of the economic program?
One is the strengthening of dollarization and the other is to boost production. Ecuador already has an important infrastructure and has productive capacities. The government will provide a great impetus to production, as the private sector and the popular and solidarity economy are the engines of economic dynamics.
How will dollarization be strengthened?
We are going to promote activities that generate foreign exchange, like exports, and we will improve the conditions for foreign direct investment.
For the banking sector, a sign that could help strengthen dollarization is to review the current scheme of electronic money…
That is open to dialogue and our fundamental objective is to strengthen dollarization. In no way in Ecuador is going to impose another currency or any other scheme. It is ruled out that electronic money can be used in any way that is not consistent with the strengthening of dollarization.
