The National Court of Justice accepted on Wednesday the request of the State Attorney General, and sentenced former Comptroller Carlos Pólit and his son John Polit for corruption, related to the Odebrecht case, newspaper El Universo reported.
In the judgment hearing this Wednesday, Polit and his son were sentenced to six and three years in prison, respectively, and to pay $ 40.4 million as integral reparation in solidarity.
According to the tax accusation, Carlos Pólit, being Comptroller General of the State, requested $ 10.1 million from Odebrecht for the fading of glosses related to the San Francisco project, and for submitting favorable reports from the Comptroller’s Office for the Brazilian one regarding five projects that participated in Ecuador.
In contrast to Pólit son, Pérez accuses him of complicity, since he would have placed $ 1.7 million in the companies Cosani, of Panama, and Plastiquim, of Ecuador. Apparently it simulated to give credits of the company Venture Overseas, when that money would have been part of the obtained thing through bribes transferred by Klienfeld, offshore of Odebrecht. (I)
