Chikungunya cases exceeds 10,000

In Ecuador there have been 10,188 cases of chikungunya , mostly in the provinces

of Esmeraldas and Manabi , said Itamar Rodriguez, National Undersecretary

of Public Health Surveillance.

Rodriguez added that for months and vector control various processes of spraying is done.

Manabi , the Emergency Operations Committee (COE ) met in Portoviejo provincial

and tried on cases of chikungunya , announcing the need for an aggressive campaign to

eliminate breeding sites of mosquitoes that transmit the disease.

According to the report the Ministry of Health, through week 20 in 2,114 cases in Manabi

Ecuador , where dengue has a high incidence, with more than 6000 cases were

detected.
