Chile exports sheeps for indigenous communities of Ecuador
From the bowels of the Chilean Patagonia, about 2,000 sheep departed Tuesday by air bound for Ecuador, this would be the second of three shipments of the first Chilean commercial race, chosen to enhance the offspring of these species in indigenous communities
The three shipments, one set for the next few days, will complete the operation for a total of 1,500 females and 507 males, weighing between 40 and 80 kilos, reported Lan Cargo, company responsible for the transportation of the sheep.
“They came to Chile looking for the substance of a sustainable project of genetic improvement of animals, they searched around the world animals with butcher quality and fine wool and we were chosen,” told to AFP Jose Marin, owner of the Ganadera Merin company, developer of the new race.
