Through a statement, this Sunday, August 23, the Ministry of Education reported that classes will continue to be held in a non-face-to-face way on a national scale, both in the Costa regime and in the Sierra-Amazonía.

The educational activities will continue to be carried out through phase 1 of the We Learn Together at Home Educational Plan, a methodology that was implemented since the beginning of the health emergency and has served the entire educational community in an assertive manner.

On Friday, August 21, 2020, in preparation for a next phase -as of September 1-, the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE) resolved to authorize the pilot plans of progressive return to face-to-face classes presented by the establishments: German Humboldt, from Guayaquil and Samborondón; and Balandra-Cruz del Sur, from Guayaquil.

The parents and representatives of these institutions in question will decide – voluntarily – whether or not the students will return in person.

It is important to clarify to the public that this does not mean that all educational institutions in the country will return to face-to-face classes, but that only the entities approved in the resolution and those that request it from the National COE and are authorized as pilot plans will have the power to do so. gradually, complying with strict biosafety protocols.

Reason for which the National Technical Tables N ° 5 “Education in Emergency” and N ° 2 “Health and PHC” are charged with carrying out the biweekly monitoring of the piloting and reporting its implementation to the National COE on its results.

All educational units that propose a pilot plan for a progressive return to face-to-face activities must comply with the following scheme: 1.- Presentation: the educational units must show the National COE the proposal (pilot plan); 2.- Review: the National Technical Tables N ° 5 and N ° 2 will review the proposal; 3.- Decision: if there are no observations on the proposal by the National Technical Tables N ° 5 and N ° 2, the National COE will approve the start of the pilot implementation.
