CNE has removed 81 illegal electoral billboards so far
The task carried out by the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) of removing billboards that promote political groups before the start of the official election campaign (January 4 – February 14), continues unabated.
Counselor Nubia Villacis reported that so far 81 billboards have been removed, 35 were placed in Guayas, 20 in Manabi, 15 in Los Rios, 3 in Chimborazo and Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, 2 in Cañar and 1 in Bolivar and Esmeraldas.
Villacis also revealed that once the campaign starts, the CNE will regulate the electoral art provided by political organizations that want to advertise on billboards. “No advertising may be presented without the authorization of the CNE,” she said.
The Minister concluded indicating that the CNE will have to qualify billboard service suppliers and said that so far, 950 communication media and advertising companies compete for the approval of the electoral body.
