Colombia and FARC resume peace dialogues
Posted On 15 Jul 2014
The Colombian government and the FARC held today in Havana “preparatory” meetings to resume stopped peace dialogues by the last presidential election in the South American country.
Meetings are held prior to the formal dialogue cycle which should begin in the coming days.
Prior to the resumption of dialogue, delegations of the government of Juan Manuel Santos and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) had already held meetings on 6 and 7 July.
In the previous cycle, closed on June 7 before the re-election of Santos, the government and the guerrillas announced they will receive victims of the conflict in Havana as part of the negotiations.
