Cordicom calls the Monetary Code draft to be handled with “responsibility” by the media
The Council for the Regulation and Development of Information and Communication (Cordicom for its Spanish acronym) made an attention call yesterday to the experts or analysts who give their opinion through the mass media regarding the Monetary Code and urged to handle the debate with “responsibility.”
“The Cordicom observes with concern the way in which through different social media information and opinions on the draft Monetary and Financial Code and its Legislative procedure is being spread, with claims about ” risks” in the stability of the Ecuadorian financial system, if the approval of that proposal occurs,” according to a statement released yesterday.
The Monetary Code is currently being discussed at the Commission on Economic Regime of the National Assembly.
Finally, they ask the press to promote “ethical opinions” that do not generate fear and “contribute to the consolidation of democracy and honor the fundamental right of individuals to receive quality information.”
