CORDICOM discloses new regulations for intercultural dissemination in Ecuador
The Regulation for the implementation of Section 36 of the Organic Law of Communication (LOC) for the dissemination of intercultural content in the Ecuadorian media came into force on April 16.
This LOC section compels to broadcast in a 5% space of the daily programming contents that express and reflect the worldview, culture, traditions, knowledge and wisdom of indigenous, Afro-Ecuadorian and peasant peoples and nationalities.
The new regulation establishes the parameters and abstentions to produce cultural content, it also specifies that these will be produced in native languages, the same that will be simultaneously translated into Spanish.
Delegates of the Regulation and Development Council of Information and Communication (CORDICOM) that developed and approved the regulations, are giving a workshop on new media regulations to media of the country.
Of the 13 sections cotained in the rules, number 11 refers to the language used in the dissemination of intercultural content. Five sections refer to the original language.
