Correa talks about the use of the pill
The President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, went to Guayaquil to review the facilities of the new building of the national post office company and inaugurated the first child emblematic center of good living (CIBV), but took advantage of his visit to also talk about the importance of family planning and its rejection of abortion methods.
“The pill of the day after has been sold in Ecuador for a long time, what the Ministry of health has done is to regulate the provision of that pill free of charge in health centres, and comes all this scandal”, said Correa, during the inauguration of the children’s Center in Guasmo, in the South of Guayaquil.
Four years ago, some centers and subcenters of health of the city already provided women and sexually active teens, oral contraceptives for emergency (AOE) or morning-after pill as one contraceptive method, but only in case of emergencies.
The City currently has seven health centers that have differentiated adolescent care units. Including maternity Matilde Hidalgo de Procel (in Guasmo) and on the way to the Sun (isla Trinitaria), Mata Martinez (basin and Noguchi), Mariana de Jesús (suburb) hospital, Martha Roldós (in this area) and Francisco Jácome (cooperative of the same name)
