CREO and PSC contested the candidacy of Álvaro Noboa
After the weekend announcement of businessman Álvaro Noboa on social networks of his intention to seek the Presidency of Ecuador for the sixth time and that his application was entered by the Social Justice movement, the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Diana Atamaint , reported that there are two challenges within the electoral body.

CREO and PSC contested the candidacy of Álvaro Noboa
Social Justice was able to restore its legal status through a ruling by the Electoral Contentious Court (TCE), so the qualification in the race to the Government Palace will depend on a legal technical report that must be approved or not by the five electoral members.
The members plan to resolve a request from Social Justice on an extension of the term to 15 days that the CNE for this political group to comply with all procedures and requirements such as the primary elections, the acceptance of the nominations of the candidates.
Then they will have to resolve the two challenges presented by the political organizations CREO and the Social Christian Party to the resolution adopted by the plenary session to grant a term so that Juntos Podemos and Justicia Social can register candidates for the dignities of popular elections under equal conditions.
Atamaint specified that the plenary session must rule on these resources until Wednesday. But if there is disagreement with what is resolved by the plenary session of the CNE, political organizations can also file appeals before the TCE.
This could imply that the established deadline for sending the information for printing the electoral ballots is not met. Until this Monday there are 14 qualified presidential pairs. The ECA has not yet ruled on the appeal filed against the candidacies of the Correismo of Andrés Arauz and Carlos Rabascall.
And while this is happening, another phase of the electoral calendar was fulfilled, simultaneously in the 24 provincial delegations the lottery was carried out for the appointment of the members of the voting receiving boards for the February 2021 elections.
277,263 citizens, including university students, private employees and public servants will be members of the voting receiving boards nationwide and in the 882 tables abroad.
Of the total number 4,410 citizens will be in the voting receiving boards abroad, these are Ecuadorian officials who work in consular offices and citizens who voluntarily express their desire to participate
The $ 20 compensation was not included in the budget, except in those cases where reaching the polling places involves air travel by river or where they are located in the detention centers.
For the rest of the citizens, the members approved incentives such as a vacation day for public and private employees and an academic recognition for students
However, the regulation stipulates that the CNE may manage the payment of compensation as long as there is budget availability. (I)
