Two corporals of the National Police who worked in a UPC of the Guayaquil Urban Service, were arrested early yesterday morning, as they were part of an organization dedicated to the commercialization and sale of drugs for high school students.

The action, called Cana Verde, was executed in various sectors of the Guayaquil, Duran and Milagro, counties, in the Guayas province, after the investigations originated after the arrest of four men in 2015.

“This investigation began three months ago, with the complaints of citizens and several educational establishments about an organization dedicated to the sale of drugs,” explained Chief Darwin Sangoquiza, head of the Unit against trafficking for domestic consumption (Uctci), who took part in the operation.
