Dahik: “I do not agree with the way the Government intends to manage the exchange stamp”

Posted On 14 Jan 2016

Former Vice President Alberto Dahik, creator of the ‘exchange stamp’ the government is ready to implement, said in an interview with Ecuavisa that this measure is a proposal of a list of 21 points, in a comprehensive program to bring the Ecuadorian economy ouf of the crisis.

In addition, the original proposal envisages a reduction and unification of all tariffs, the elimination of all duties, quotas, restrictions on foreign trade, the elimination of taxes on capital outflows, the payment of tariffs by the Government, and within that set of prior actions the implementation of a market mechanism that will contribute to stimulate exports and regulate the import market, not through controls as in Venezuela and Argentina.

“Now, it turns out that everything I’m hearing of the mechanism to be taken by the Government is different, and course, I am very concerned,” he added.
