Ecuadorian Journalists Organized a Sit for Freedom of Expression

Posted On 03 May 2011
Dressed in white shirts, dozens of journalists from different media arrived this morning at the Park El Ejido, located in the northern center of Quito, to celebrate the World Day of Freedom of Expression.
The “civic” meeting as described this morning by Vicente Ordonez, president of theNational Union of Journalists, was launched at 09:00.

The artist Damiano welcomed the audience with a song he sang. During the day there will be speeches on freedom of expression.

Ordonez told Citynoticias (89.3 FM Guayaquil) that this is an event that will allow to show what has been the work of journalists.

“We as journalists are not in politics, we are not in the line of politicians. I believe that today we are going to give an example of courage, we are going to defend this fundamental principle, that intrinsic principle inside the human being,” he said.
